When should a panel be evaluated?
A panel evaluation can be useful when breakers trip repeatedly, the panel shows heat or corrosion, circuits cannot support planned equipment, or a renovation adds meaningful electrical demand. An older panel is not automatically unsafe, and amperage alone does not determine the right solution. Existing service capacity, conductor size, circuit condition, grounding and bonding, load calculations, equipment condition, and local requirements all matter.
What an upgrade may involve
- Reviewing the existing service, panel, breakers, and connected loads.
- Identifying damaged, obsolete, undersized, or poorly configured components.
- Planning capacity for current use and reasonably anticipated additions.
- Coordinating the scope around the property type and applicable requirements.
- Testing and clearly labeling the completed distribution equipment.
